So now we could change the HP in general. This is just an example and changes are already planned, but there are more fights, that are similar to this. Well, now we could say "the game warned you!", but the time spent from the point of no return to this fight is way to long. Beating 50 encounters for maybe one more level won't do much. More levels is also no option, because of the dimishing return. New dropped crystals won't do much, because at this point, you should be full of dropped crystals. There is no way to craft new equipment or melt crystals, because it's a small "point of no return". The problem with the story fight is, you can't prepare more. One is optional (just do it later, mark it as a quest with higher lvl needed) and one is a story fight. Again mostly fights, where you can't get a preemptive strike in. Here are good equipments, levels and crystals needed.ġ% of all fights are unfair. So a lot of forced battles and some random encounter. Those are fights, where you can't get a preemptive strike in or you get some bad positioning due the area. Nightmare should be a "use everything at your disposal".Ĥ% of all fights are really hard. Those fights are still manageable, if you payed attention to your equipment and crystals. In nightmare, I expect, that I'm in trouble, if I don't get a preemptive strike in. You have to see it from a different view.ĩ5% of all fights are easy. Originally posted by Kaldorei:I wonder if giving the initiative to players in nightmare (starting with full atb) could solve some issues by allowing the player to preemptively mode and avoid some oneshots while still being difficult I’m going to start chapter 4 today, and if what Jen says is true, then I’m not looking forward to chapter 5 and beyond’s cakewalk. It should be able to continuously provide a worthy challenge. I guess what my bigger point is is that I don’t want to feel like I’m just steamrolling everything on the maximum difficulty, that seems like a pretty big balance issue to me. I wouldn’t describe anything so far chapter 1-3 as “hell”, though, it’s been mostly tame with a few spikes, like the three legendary hunts in chapter 2, or the level 19 penitent guy from the side quest at the end of chapter 2, but that’s expected, as they were supposed to be challenge fights. Once I actually got to make moves, the fight wasn’t too bad, it was just getting to move in the first place that was the hurdle. Or they couldn’t, if they didn’t feel like it. Now, the fight where there were three of them during the side quest? That took a few resets, since they got spam happy with their volley of missiles attacks and shooting, they could easily kill both Daryon and Selene before I got a turn. The drone didn’t bother, I pretty much one-shot it after it triggered a mine, and then Myrna went down easily afterward. Selene at least is squishy, but Daryon would just mow her down. My reaction in that fight was, “.seriously? This is going to be even more of a joke than the fight just a little while ago with Selene.” And it was. It didn’t really bother at all during the Myrna fight. It does make a certain amount of sense that as you get better gems and equipment that the game becomes easier, of course, but unless you can specifically balance each enemy, or even by chapter, I feel like global tuning isn’t really the answer.Īs for the drone, it’s a matter of RNG I guess.
